Camila Rodriguez
Hi everyone, Cami here (she/her)! My credentials include a Bachelor of Science in Vertebrate Zoology from Texas A&M University (which means I studied human anatomy A LOT!), and a Masters of Business Administration. I’ll keep this intro short & sweet and spare you my history in the medical field/sexual wellness space by saying this:
As I’ve matured into womanhood, and throughout my time in the sexual wellness space, I’ve discovered just how ill-informed the population is about sex and sexual health. I’m a firm believer that informed is synonymous with empowered, and if we start the conversations about sexual education early, we can prevent a lot of mistakes, naivety, and even pain! The “sex talk” I received growing up was quite short and left me unprepared for many future situations that were quite scary. As I’ve become aware of how that’s affected me in my adult life, I’ve felt inspired to create this course to help parents feel ready and empowered to speak to their children about these sensitive (although it doesn’t need to be!) subjects. And so, Empowering CareTakers was born.
My wish is for future generations to be well educated in their sexual health- even from a young age. I hope you gain valuable insight and feel READY to give your children the ultimate “sex talk.”

Hi all, I'm Kate (she/her), and I’m so excited to introduce this course! I have a Bachelor of Science in Public Health Sciences and a Master of Public Health focusing on Health Behavior and Health Education.
I have always had a particular interest in sexual health and sex education and knew that I wanted to do something with my public health education to fulfill this. So when Cami mentioned that she was also interested in making a course to teach sex education to kids, I knew I had found a great partner and collaborator! Similar to Cami, my sex education when I was growing up was well-intended, but lacking. In school, we learned about periods and different ways to prevent pregnancy, and that was pretty much it. As I have gotten older, it shocks me that I was taught so little and had to rely on friends or the internet to get the rest of the information I needed. I was lucky to be given mostly reliable and correct information, yet, I know this is not the case for everyone.
Now, I feel confident in my knowledge surrounding sex and sex education and I want everyone to feel this way. Cami and I felt the best way to get the information to kids and teens was to go through their caretakers. This could be their parents, grandparents, nannies, or anyone out there raising children. I want YOU as a caretaker to feel confident about teaching your children about these sometimes difficult or uncomfortable topics. If you are open and frank from a young age, your children won’t feel shame about coming to you to ask questions if they have them.
My hope is that we can raise a generation of well-informed children (and adults) who don’t feel the shame that usually surrounds the topics of the body and sex!
